White Karate Sparring Gear Checklist

At White Karate we begin sparring at gold belt. It is a required activity for promotion beyond gold belt. As this is an additional cost we will try our best to assist you in picking out the lowest cost safe options. White Karate will offer a full sparring package for approximately $225 (including tax) with everything except the groin protector. Males must purchase a groin protector on their own.

• Used gear is acceptable (and recommended).

• All sparring gear must meet safety standards (no taping or excessive wear).

• Adults may opt out of Face Shield and Chest Protector with a signed safety waiver.

Required Gear for Sparring

We require the the following gear for sparring. Any alternatives must be approved by White Karate.

• Mouthguard

• Gloves: Dipped foam point fighting gloves

• Boots: Dipped foam

• Shin Guards: Dipped foam

• Elbow Pads: Cloth foam

• Head Gear: Dipped foam

• Face Shield (required for youth)

• Chest Protector (required for youth)

• Groin Protector (males only)

Adult Opt Out (with waiver)

Adults can opt out of purchasing or wearing the following gear. Sparring sets without these will be offered at a lower cost.

Tips:

• Inspect used gear before purchasing to ensure no cracks, tears, or unsafe tape.

• Gear should be cleaned regularly.
